Job summary

Montana Technological University seeks an Academic Advisor I to support students from prospective to continuing status, building academic pathways that align with goals. You will learn majors, minors, and certificates, and work with multiple student information systems while collaborating with faculty and staff.

The role requires initiative in communication, independent and collaborative work, and strong interpersonal skills, with strong emphasis on advising and student success in a university

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
• Knowledge of student development principles and higher education policies.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to learn and use multiple information systems quickly.

Responsibilities

• Provide academic advising on degree requirements, course planning and progression.
• Engage in regular communication with students and faculty to support enrollment and retention.
• Assist with new student orientation sessions and Freshman Seminar classes.
• Help students resolve academic issues and navigate university policies and procedures.
• Interpret and apply catalog requirements and placement procedures.
