Job summary

George Mason University’s Fenwick Library in Fairfax, VA seeks a Student Spaces Specialist to support circulation and user services, managing student spaces and the booking system. This role acts as a departmental lead on Fenwick facilities issues and contributes to Access Services policies and procedures.

The position requires library experience, strong customer service skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Customer service experience.
• Library work experience.
• Experience with library systems (such as Alma) and research resources (e.g. EBSCO, JSTOR, ProQuest).
• Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and manage competing priorities.

Responsibilities

• Provides customer service at the Fenwick Library service desk on the Fairfax campus, including circulation services and basic reference service.
• Maintains knowledge of circulation operations, policies and procedures to provide courteous service.
• Explains and enforces library guidelines, policies, and procedures for accurate service.
• Responds to and resolves routine inquiries regarding library services and policies.
• Serves as lead for library facilities and services when management unavailable, and opens/closes Fenwick Library as assigned.
• Manages student spaces and room reservations, including the booking system, and tracks usage.
