In support of this mission, the GWSB Undergraduate Programs office is searching for a Student Support Specialist. This individual is a key contributor to developing forward-thinking and inclusive business leaders, a core aspiration of the Undergraduate Programs office.
The purpose of the GWSB Undergraduate Programs office is to educate and empower students throughout their academic journey by focusing on holistic student development and prioritizing student learning in academic advising, the Business Leader Development ( BLD ) Program, and co-curricular learning initiatives with a core aspiration of developing forward-thinking and inclusive business leaders.
The Student Services Specialist position typically serves as the main point of contact for service and support to students, faculty, and staff. The role assists with various administrative inquiries, referrals, and procedures, including registrations, grade appeals, petitions, student records maintenance, transfer credit reviews, account questions, admissions, and other registration-related actions. Additionally, this position acts as a valuable resource for students, faculty, and staff, directing requests to the appropriate departments and assisting in determining eligibility for graduation.
Reporting to the Director, Academic Advising for Undergraduate Programs, this role does not include direct reports.
The key responsibilities are:
Minimum Qualifications:
Qualified candidates will hold a high school diploma/ GED plus 3 years of relevant professional experience, or, a Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant area of study. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
High preferences will be given to candidates who hold a bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant field of study and experience in an academic setting, particularly in disseminating academic information and reviewing/evaluating student records. This position is well-suited for someone interested in entering academic advising as a profession.
The candidate should possess sound counseling techniques, along with sensitivity and discretion, to effectively advise students from diverse social, cultural, economic, and educational backgrounds in resolving issues.
