Job summary

Amarillo College seeks a General Services Specialist to support the Truck Driving Academy and serve as liaison for students, faculty, staff, vendors, stakeholders, and the community. You will advise prospective and incoming students on program requirements, enrollment steps, and course options; coordinate registrations and orientation, and assist with daily program operations.

Qualifications

• Minimum: High School Diploma or GED; two years experience in admin, student services, or program support.
• Preferred: Associate Degree; four years in higher education, student services, program support, or public sector.

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary point of contact for students, staff, vendors, stakeholders, and the community.
• Advise prospective and incoming students on Truck Driving program requirements, enrollment steps, and course options; process registrations; conduct orientations.
• Operate and maintain proficiency in enterprise platforms (Etrieve, Colleague, Symmetry AMAG, WEX, JPMorgan Chase).
• Input data and generate reports using Colleague and office tools to support operations and decision-making.
• Maintain organized filing systems and manage correspondence and records-retention compliance.
• Assist with budget preparation and monitor departmental expenditures for fiscal accountability.
• Review mail, requisitions, and invoices; route information and instructions to appropriate personnel.
• Interpret and communicate college policies; exercise delegated authority in absence of Program Coordinator.
• Manage security and access-control functions, including employee security clearances and access records.
• Coordinate day-to-day office operations, inventory, and procurement; ensure cost-effective supplies.
• Perform other related duties and foster a culture of caring aligned with AC Core Values.
