Job summary

Northern Wyoming Community College District is seeking a Child Care Teacher Assistant for an off-campus YMCA-based program serving children ages 2–5. Work under the After-School Program Coordinator to implement curriculum, lead activities, and maintain a safe, engaging environment.

Must be a Sheridan College student eligible for Federal Work Study, with CPR/First Aid/AED and child abuse prevention training within set timelines.

Qualifications

• GPA 2.0 or greater is required.
• Sheridan College student must be enrolled and eligible for Federal Work Study.
• CPR, First Aid, AED certifications are required within 30 days of hire.
• Child Abuse prevention training within 30 days of hire date.
• Mission with Character, Listen 1st and Child Abuse Prevention training within 6 months of hire date.

Responsibilities

Position Information

Job Summary

**Position is off campus at the YMCA .
Under the guidance of the After-School Program Coordinator, the Child Care Teacher Assistant provides direction for the program and classroom and implements program reading and interactive curriculum/activities with ages of children between 2 – 5 years old. The Child Care Teacher Assistant also provides quality experience to children and parents that focuses on the YMCA values of honesty, respect, responsibility and caring.

• Good Conduct and Academic Standing with the college
• Sheridan College Student currently enrolled
• Cumulative GPA of 2.0 or greater
• Student must qualify for Federal Work Study to be considered for employment.
• CPR , First Aid, AED certifications and Child Abuse prevention training within 30 days of hire date.
• Mission with Character, Listen 1st and Child Abuse Prevention training within 6 months of hire date.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Previous experience working with children in a developmental setting preferred.
• Ability to plan, organize and implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities.
• Previous experience with diverse populations.
• Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds.
• Ability to plan, lead and participate in activities.
• Maintains continuing education credits ( STARS ) required by state licensing.

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements

The ability to engage and interact with kids, parents and staff in a positive way. To maintain a safe friendly environment with the ability to lift, stand, sit and move with the kids.
