Job summary

Northern Wyoming Community College District seeks an After-School Group Leader for an off-campus YMCA program in Sheridan. Under the After-School Program Coordinator, you will direct activities and implement curriculum aligned with reading and interactive exercises to engage school-age children.

Qualifications

• Good Conduct and Academic Standing with the college.
• Sheridan College student currently enrolled.
• GPA of 2.0 or greater.
• Student must qualify for Federal Work Study to be considered for employment.
• CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and Child Abuse prevention training within 30 days of hire date.
• Mission with Character, Listen 1st and Child Abuse Prevention training within 6 months of hire date.

Responsibilities

• Implement curriculum within the established guidelines.
• Design and implement daily lesson/activity plans.
• Supervise the children, classroom and all activities in a safe environment.
• Reading and literacy activities with school aged children in small groups
• Make ongoing, systematic observations and evaluations of each child.
• Maintain positive relationships and effective communication with parents.
• Maintain program site and equipment
• Maintain required program records.
• Participate in family nights, program activities, staff meetings, staff training

Job Summary

Position is off-campus at the YMCA.
Under the guidance of the After-School Program Coordinator, the After-School Group Leader provides direction for the program and classroom and implements program reading and interactive curriculum/activities. The After-School Group Leader also provides quality experience to children and parents that focus on the YMCA values of honesty, respect, responsibility and caring.

Education/Qualifications

• Good Conduct and Academic Standing with the college
• Sheridan College Student currently enrolled
• Cumulative GPA of 2.0 or greater
• Student must qualify for Federal Work Study to be considered for employment.
• CPR , First Aid, AED certifications and Child Abuse prevention training within 30 days of hire date.
• Mission with Character, Listen 1st and Child Abuse Prevention training within 6 months of hire date.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Previous experience working with children in a developmental setting preferred.
• Ability to plan, organize and implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities.
• Previous experience with diverse populations.
• Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds.
• Ability to plan, lead and participate in activities.

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements

The ability to engage and interact with kids, parents and staff in a positive way. To maintain a safe friendly environment with the ability to lift, stand, sit and move with the kids.
