Job summary

Sovah Health - Martinsville is seeking a Student, Polysomnographic to join our team under the direct supervision of an RPSGT. The role reviews patient history, follows sleep center protocols, verifies credentials, explains procedures, and prepares testing equipment for in-center or out-of-center sleep studies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; enrolled or completed BRPT STAR Program, AASM ASTEP Program, or NBRC sleep endorsements.
• American Heart Association BLS certification.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision in a stressful environment.
• Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Review patient history and verify the medical order.
• Follow sleep center protocols related to the sleep study.
• Verify patient credentials upon arrival and obtain consent for the study.
• Explain the procedure and orient the patient for center or at-home sleep testing.
• Select and calibrate equipment to ensure proper testing.

How You'll Contribute

A Student, Polysomnographic who excels in this role:

Under Direct Supervision Of An RPSGT

• Reviews the patient's history and verifies the medical order.
• Follow sleep center protocols related to the sleep study.
• Verify patient's credentials upon arrival, collect documents and obtain consent for the study.
• Explain the procedure and orient the patient for either in the center or out of the center sleep testing.
• Select appropriate equipment and calibrate for testing to determine proper functioning and make adjustments as necessary.

What We're Looking For

Applicants should be a high school graduate or equivalent and enrolled or completed a BRPT STAR Program, an AASM ASTEP Program, or equivalent program, a Respiratory Care Program with sleep diagnostic academia or have the NBRC sleep endorsements.

Additional Requirements Include

• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
• Basic computer operations and understanding, including Microsoft Office applications.
