Job summary

The University of Virginia School of Data Science is hiring a Student Operations Assistant to support daily building operations, events, and basic IT/AV tasks. You’ll join a team that keeps the building running smoothly, from restocking kitchens to assisting with event setup and tech inventory.

Ideal candidates are detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable managing multiple responsibilities in a professional environment. This is a part-time, hourly role with UVA work-study eligibility.

Qualifications

• Current UVA student in good academic standing.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Friendly, dependable, and detail-oriented.
• Basic tech comfort preferred (especially IT/operations support).
• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs on occasion.

Responsibilities

• Daily Operations: front desk presence, direct visitors, restock supplies, manage mail/packages, monitor cleanliness and inventory.
• Weekly & as-needed tasks: conduct inventory checks, compile a purchase list, prep conference rooms and shared spaces.
• Event & Tech Support: assist with event setup/takedown and AV/equipment coordination.
