Job summary

Mt. Hood Community College in Gresham, OR, seeks a Student Services Hub specialist to support new student onboarding, admissions, registration, cashiering, records, advising, financial aid and course placement. You will monitor student outcomes and implement early retention strategies.

You will collaborate with marketing and recruitment teams, assist with transcripts and holds, and provide mentorship to student employees in a busy on-site setting.

Qualifications

• Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in education, social work, psychology or related field.
• Two years of experience in student services or similar environment.
• Experience with diverse populations and commitment to access and diversity.
• Intermediate-level skills in word processing, databases, presentation and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Supports students with major/program exploration and first-term advising; ensures plans align with catalog year curriculum and requirements.
• Provides holistic guidance on navigating processes, systems, and resources for prospective and returning students.
• Evaluates placement test results, explains scores, describes prerequisites, and guides retests as needed.
• Assists students in overcoming academic progression challenges; refers to college/community support services as needed.
• Assists in creating analytics and onboarding strategies to increase student retention; tracks progress.
• Mentors and coaches student employees in the Student Services Hub; provides task guidance when appropriate.
• Works with marketing and recruitment teams to create media materials to support onboarding.
• Processes payments, resolves tuition/fees discrepancies, and collaborates with Business Office.
