Job summary

Davenport University in Lansing is seeking a Nursing Lab/Clinical Skills Lab Assistant to organize, stock, and inventory supplies in the Clinical Skills Lab. You will support the Nursing Lab Coordinator and help maintain a clean, compliant lab environment aligned with the university values.

Qualifications

  • Must be a 3rd or 4th year Nursing student.
  • Successful completion of Nursing Assessment course.
  • Complete training and be proficient in the use of lab equipment.
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours as an undergraduate student or 3 credit hours as a graduate student while meeting academic progress.

Responsibilities

  • Assist clinical lab coordinator as directed.
  • Assist nursing students in open skills lab with basic nursing skills.
  • Lab setup and cleanup for open labs as assigned.
  • Maintain simulation equipment and inventory.
  • Manage the check-in spreadsheet and records.
  • Generate reports, memos, presentations, spreadsheets.
  • Assist with special events and greet visitors as needed.
  • Maintain confidentiality and provide customer service.
  • Promote University Cultural Values and abide by regulations.

Position pay range: $13.73

Target hiring range: Actual pay offered will be commensurate with candidate qualifications and experience, the type of role, pay equity, and available funding.

Summary

This position will assist the Nursing Lab Coordinator/ Clinical Coordinator in organizing, stocking, and taking inventory of supplies in the Clinical Skills Lab. These responsibilities are performed in an ethical manner consistent with the University’s mission, vision, and values which include diversity, equity and inclusion.

Responsibilities
  1. Responsible for assisting clinical lab coordinator as directed.
  2. Assist 1st and 2nd year nursing students in open skills lab with basic nursing skills.
  3. Assist with lab setup and cleanup for all open labs as assigned.
  4. Clean and maintain simulation equipment as assigned.
  5. Manage the check-in spreadsheet.
  6. Responsible for creating, maintaining and updating files and record keeping systems.
  7. Generate reports, memorandums, correspondence, presentation materials, spreadsheets and graphics, and other materials using various software programs.
  8. Assist with special events and functions as needed.
  9. May be responsible for greeting visitors, as well as answering and routing incoming calls.
  10. Handle documents and maintain appropriate confidentiality.
  11. Provide customer service, anticipating and exceeding the needs of our customers.
  12. Demonstrate and promote the University Cultural Values.
  13. Understand and abide by all external and internal regulations and policies. This includes NCAA, GLIAC and national affiliations associated within athletics or other role specific regulations.
  14. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

  • Experience in office setting preferred but not required.
  • Demonstrated ability to work accurately and effectively with computerized data systems (PC and mainframe).
  • Excellent interpersonal skills that transcend diverse audiences; communicating to university customers with positive attitudes toward change, confidentiality, and conflict resolution.
  • Demonstrated motivational and problem solving capabilities with a high degree of integrity, ethics, and dedication to the mission of the University.
  • Business office environment. Prolonged sitting and standing. Use of personal computer and telephone (eye and hand strain).
  • Some travel between locations may be required (own transportation). No regular lifting requirements, occasional lifting up to 35 pounds.
