Job summary

SSM Health Rehabilitation Hospital in Bridgeton, MO, is seeking a Student Nurse Tech (SNT) to support nurses in rehabilitation care. The role offers PRN or full-time days or nights with 12‑hour shifts and a $22 base hourly rate plus a $2 night shift differential.

In this role, you will assist patients, monitor vital signs, support rehabilitation techniques, and help with admissions, discharges, and documentation under RN supervision. A student in good standing is required.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN).
  • Proof of completion of first year/fundamentals of nursing required.
  • BLS certification required.
  • CPR certification required.
  • Skilled in using nursing equipment.
  • Post offer employment testing (POETs) completed before start.

Responsibilities

  • Complete daily assignments as directed by a nurse.
  • Record vital signs as directed.
  • Respond to call lights promptly and report issues.
  • Reinforce rehabilitation techniques to aid recovery.
  • Assist with diets and nutrition monitoring as directed by therapists.
  • Communicate patient progress to the nursing team.
  • Provide shift reports for continuity of care.
  • Observe safety rules and patient confidentiality.

Job Details
  • Position: Student Nurse Tech (SNT)
  • Location: Bridgeton, MO
  • Schedule: PRN or Full-time Days/Nights – 12 hour shifts 6:45–7:15 (PRN must work 4 shifts per every 6 week period)
  • Compensation: $22 + $2 night shift differential
  • Sign-On Bonus: $2,500

This is an opportunity for a student nurse enrolled in an accredited nursing school to gain hands‑on experience under the direction of a registered nurse. The role involves assisting patients in the rehabilitation process, providing appropriate nursing care, and carrying out rehabilitation techniques.

Responsibilities
  • Completes daily assignments as directed by a nurse.
  • Obtains vital signs (temperature, pulse, respirations) as directed.
  • Answers all call lights promptly and reports problems to a primary nurse or designee.
  • Reinforces rehabilitation techniques to maximize patient recovery.
  • Participates in Therapeutic Dysphagia and Feeding Program as assigned, assists with monitoring of diets and nutritional supplements, and provides appropriate cues for feeding or swallowing when directed by speech or occupational therapist. Provides water, juice, and snacks as appropriate.
  • Reports problems and progress to the primary nurse throughout the shift, immediately reports accidents, and refers questions for follow‑up. Communicates effectively with the rehabilitation team including nursing, therapy, and physicians.
  • Provides and receives shift‑to‑shift reports to ensure continuity of patient care.
  • Observes safety rules, standard precautions, and fire regulations, maintaining patient confidentiality, patient rights, and privacy.
  • Interacts with patients, families, peers, and supervisors in a calm, positive, courteous, and appropriate manner.
  • Assists nurse with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges; safeguards patients’ belongings during these procedures; assists nurse in taking pictures of new admissions for insertion into the medical record; collects specimens from patients as assigned and transports specimens to the lab if required.
  • Under the direction of a registered nurse, assists patients in the rehabilitation process through provision of appropriate nursing care and carryover of rehabilitation techniques.
Qualifications
  • Current enrollment in an accredited nursing school (ADN or BSN program).
  • Proof of completion of the first year/fundamentals of nursing (or equivalent).
  • BLS certification required.
  • CPR certification required.
  • Skilled in utilizing a variety of nursing equipment.
  • Possess interpersonal skills to communicate effectively and appropriately with patient families, physicians, and hospital associates.
  • Post offer employment testing (POETs) are completed as part of the onboarding process and must be completed before the employee’s first day of work.
