Select Specialty Hospital – St. Charles is seeking a Student Nurse Tech (Future Registered Nurse) to support nursing teams in a critical care focused facility. The role is PRN day shifts at Select Specialty Hospital – St.

Charles, inside St. Joe’s, with a $22/PRN rate and orientation requirements to align with nursing education and NCLEX pathways. Qualified candidates are currently enrolled in ADN or BSN programs and can provide proof of first-year fundamentals.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in an accredited nursing school (ADN or BSN) and provide proof of completion of first year fundamentals.
• Knowledge of basic nursing techniques and aseptic practices.
• Ability to communicate effectively, follow written and verbal instructions, and work with patients, families and staff.
• BLS certification required upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Obtain vital signs, height, weight and demographics.
• Assist with personal and daily care (bathing, oral hygiene, shaving, hair care).
• Assist with urinary catheter removal, finger stick blood sugars, bladder scans, specimen collection, ostomy care and drainage tubes.
• Remove peripheral IVs as directed by RN.
• Deliver meals and assist with feeding; document oral intake.
• Turn and reposition immobile patients and participate in mobility program.
• Transport patients to designated areas.

Position: Student Nurse Tech (Future Registered Nurse)

Location: Select Specialty Hospital - St. Charles (Inside of St. Joe's)

Schedule: PRN Day 7a-7pCompensation: $22/PRN Rate

Orientation Requirements: Must be available either the 2nd week of the month (Tuesday/Wednesday 8a-4:30pm and Friday 8am-1:30pm) OR 3rd week of the month (Wednesday/Thursday 8am-4:30pm and Friday 8am-1:30pm) WE CANNOT BYPASS WEEKDAY ORIENTATION REQUIREMENTS.

*This position requires current enrollment in an accredited nursing school (ADN or BSN program) and must provide proof of completion of the first year/fundamentals of nursing, (or equivalent).*

Responsibilities

• Obtain vital signs, height, weight and demographic data
• Assist patients with personal and daily care, such as bathing, oral hygiene, shaving and hair care
• Assist with urinary catheter removal, finger stick blood sugars, bladder scans, routine urine and stool specimen collection, ostomy care and emptying drainage receptacles/tubes
• Remove peripheral IV’s as directed by RN (may not remove any IV’s located in antecubital fossa or higher)
• Deliver meals and snacks, feed patients who are unable to feed themselves and document oral intake
• Turn and position immobile patients safely while maintaining proper body alignment; participate in mobility program
• Transport patients to designated areas, such as to and from various treatment centers

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

• Current enrollment in an accredited nursing school (ADN or BSN program) - must provide proof of completion of the first year/fundamentals of nursing (or equivalent)
• Knowledge of basic nursing techniques and procedures and aseptic practices
• Requires the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, to follow written and verbal instructions, and to maintain effective working relations with others including patients, families, physicians and other hospital associates.
• BLS certification required upon hire
