Job summary

SSM Health St. Clare Hospital - Fenton is seeking a Student Nurse Extern to gain hands-on clinical experience under RN supervision. This transitional role supports patient care across unit activities, with opportunities to learn in Neurology Stepdown and related settings.

You will assist with ADLs, monitor patient conditions, and participate in care planning while preparing for your RN career. A flexible schedule aligns with academic requirements and clinical rotations.

Qualifications

• Current enrollment in an accredited school of nursing and completion of first clinical rotation, or no more than 90 days post conferral date

Responsibilities

• Complete patient care tasks under RN supervision.
• Assist with activities of daily living to support patient comfort.
• Monitor vital signs and respond to patient needs and changes.
• Maintain safety and quality of care through effective communication with the health care team.
• Assist with procedures such as dressing changes, Foley catheter care, and specimen collection.
• Support discharge planning and patient education under supervision.
