Job summary

The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center is seeking a Student Medical Technician to support the Critical Care Laboratory operations at University Hospital. You will assist with routine automated and manual procedures, review reports, and help with quality control under supervision.

This temporary 20-hour-per-week role offers exposure to chemistry, hematology, immunochemistry, coagulation areas, and documentation of QA activities, with training provided by the Lab manager and lead

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a four year or two year medical technology program.
• Ongoing: Meets mandatory hospital education and health surveillance requirements.
• Demonstrates competence in technical, interpersonal, and cognitive skills required to meet essential job functions.

Responsibilities

• The student laboratory technologist performs routine automated and manual procedures, verifies and reports test requests and results.
• Handles phone inquiries regarding patient results, specimen collection and testing frequency.
• Laboratory staff performs and documents quality control, quality assurance and preventative maintenance on instrumentation.
