Job summary

The Lifeguard monitors the safety of patrons and conditions of the UIW pool. This is a student position open to current UIW students who may be hired through Federal Work-Study or student employment.

The pool is overseen by the Department of Sports and Wellness. Responsibilities include maintaining lifesaving skills through in-service training, monitoring pool chemical levels, and reporting any equipment issues to the Director of Sports and Wellness.

Qualifications

• Must be a current UIW student.
• Ability to swim 500 m in 20 minutes.
• Successful completion and clearance of a pre-employment background check.
• American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification.
• Available to cover shifts and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Maintain lifesaving skills through in-service and personal training.
• Monitor pool chemical levels.
• Report non-functioning equipment or operations to the Director of Sports and Wellness.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Report to the Director of Sports and Wellness.
