Job summary

Des Moines Area Community College is seeking a Student Work Study Lifeguard to support our indoor pools on campus, ensuring safety and smooth operation while coordinating with class schedules. This role provides practical experience in aquatics and public safety in a college setting.

Responsibilities include supervising the pool area, enforcing rules, and assisting with aquatic events, while maintaining vigilance and responding to emergencies with trained first aid and CPR/AED when needed.

Qualifications

• Lifeguard and First Aid certification required; renewal classes will be held.
• CPR / AED certification required.

Responsibilities

• Oversee our indoor recreational and lap pools.
• Monitor the pool deck during daily hours.
• Assist with aquatic events.
• Ensure pool safety to all members.
• Immediately rescue swimmers in danger of drowning and administer first aid.
• Enforce all pool rules posted and safety rules of Trail Point Aquatics and Wellness.
