Berklee College of Music is seeking a Student Library Assistant to help students, faculty, and staff access library materials and services on campus. Under supervision, you will locate items, place holds, check items in/out, and keep the catalog updated.
This role supports the library's daily operations and may involve special projects. The position offers an hourly rate of $16.97 and requires current enrollment, good standing, and strong communication with patrons.
In order to participate in Berklee Student Employment, a student must fulfill the following requirements:
Under the direct supervision of the Access Services & Circulation Manager, the Student Library Assistant attends to area users including students, faculty, and staff members wishing to make use of the Library resources.
Main responsibilities include helping patrons locating library items, placing item holds, and requesting new items. They check materials in and out, monitor Library usage, and organize materials. The Student Library Assistant performs many support activities involved in operating the Berklee library by assisting students, faculty and staff following established rules and procedures and policies. Student Library Assistants may work on special projects.
The Student Library Assistant must have strong communication and good interpersonal skills, and the ability to work either independently or in group. Must be able to provide professional customer service to students, staff, and faculty. SLA must have the ability to use both Macintosh and PC computers. Punctuality, attention to detail, and organizational ability are absolute must. Strong knowledge in the Learning Resources services Problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
