Job summary

The University of Virginia Department of Facilities Management is seeking a student help desk technician to support a fleet of PCs and mobile devices. You will resolve first and second-tier desktop software, hardware, and communications issues and document request history.

You will triage and route advanced requests to qualified staff while collaborating with network services and application developers. Position compensation is $16.00 per hour.

Qualifications

• Must be a current UVA undergraduate student.
• Preference will be given to 1st or 2nd-year undergraduates.
• No prior experience required; however, foundational IT knowledge is welcome.
• Ability to work effectively in a team and communicate clearly.

Responsibilities

• Provide end-user support by phone and in person.
• Offer basic PC hardware/software and peripheral support, plus smartphone config.
• Provide basic network support and document request history.
• Triage and route higher level issues to appropriate IT staff.
• Maintain strong working relationships with IT teams for timely resolutions.
