Job summary

Management & Training Corporation is seeking a student employee for the cafeteria to assist cooks and help with meal preparation for the Job Corps program in Manhattan, Kansas. This role supports food service operations while ensuring compliance with government and management directives.

The position is for current Job Corps students enrolled in the Culinary Arts program, requires 18+ years old, and offers $17.20 per hour with evening and weekend availability encouraged.

Qualifications

• Must be a current Job Corps Center Student enrolled in the Culinary Arts program.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Experience in food preparation or working in a kitchen is a plus.

Description

Reports to the food services supervisor or designee. Assists the cooks and cook helpers in preparation of student meals in compliance with government and management directives.

Essential Functions:

1. Perform clean‑up and sanitation duties in the food preparation, storage and dish room areas to ensure adequate health standards at all times.

2. Provide adequate supply of food and transfer merchandise ingredients to cooking area as instructed by the cook or designee.

3. Student snack bar, clean outside area and other duties as assigned in the Admin Building.

Must be reliable and willing to work evenings and some weekends.

Education and Experience Requirements:

• Must be a completer and ready for work-based learning.

• Must be at least 18 years of age.

• Must be a current Job Corps Center Student currently enrolled in the Culinary Arts program, preferred.

• Qualified students will, at a minimum, have their student card.
