Job summary

Capstone On-Campus Management (COCM) seeks a Director of Facilities & Operations to oversee The Heights at Montclair State University in Montclair, NJ. This role combines facilities management, custodial oversight, and fiscal leadership to deliver a premier housing experience.

You will manage budgets, supervise maintenance and custodial staff, partner with campus offices, and drive preventive maintenance and safety programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; seven-plus years in student housing/operations or related field.
• Experience with operations including budget, personnel, data analysis, reporting, and facilities management.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with campus partners and staff.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, housing management software and work order systems.
• Ability to supervise full-time staff and manage competing priorities.
• Ability to lift and move up to 35 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and program management for the residential community within institutional culture.
• Represent and communicate with the University, owner, auditors, and stakeholders.
• Coordinate on-site with University departments for housing operations.
• Own accountability for management and administration of the community, including payroll and staffing.
• Supervise staff; oversee facilities maintenance and custodial operations; ensure compliance with policies.
• Oversee budgets, vendor contracts, and capital planning; ensure timely reporting.
