Weber State University’s SHAW internship on the Ogden campus offers hands-on experience in health promotion and wellness. Interns serve as peer educators, create health communications, and participate in events and outreach to campus communities.
Positions are 20 hours per week for 4 months, paid at $13.00 per hour. Eligible for internship credit; current WSU students in related programs gain practical experience while supporting campus health initiatives.

Interns with the Department of Student Health, Advocacy, and Wellness ( SHAW ) obtain hands-on experience in their program of study in preparation for graduation and employment in their chosen field.
All SHAW interns:
Additional duties are determined by program of study.
Preference is given to students who are approaching graduation.
Expressing or exchanging ideas. Those activities in which they must convey detailed or important instructions to other workers accurately or quickly. , Ability to receive detailed information with or without assistance., Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction., Operate, activate, use, prepare, inspect, place, detect, or position. , Bending the body downward and forward by bending leg and spine. , Standing. Particularly for sustained periods of time. , Using upper extremities to exert force in order to draw, haul or tug objects in a sustained motion. , Lifting. Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires substantial use of upper extremities and back muscles.
Light work. Exerting up to 20 lbs of force occasionally and/or up to 10 lbs of force frequently and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Use of arm and/or leg controls exerting forces greater than that for sedentary work.
Required to perform activities such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; using a computer terminal; extensive reading., Required to have visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned (i.e., custodial, food services,) or to make general observations of facilities or structures (i.e., security guard, inspection).
The worker is subject to both environmental conditions. Activities occur inside and outside.
