Job summary

Weber State University is seeking a Lab Supervisor to provide operational support for the Open Student Computer Labs within Technology Support Services in the IT Department. You will hire and supervise 50+ student employees and coordinate scheduling across labs.

The role requires an Associate’s degree or equivalent and at least 2 years of supervisory experience, plus proficiency with Google and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and train 50+ student employees within the Open Student Computer Labs.
• Maintain digital and verbal communication with student employees during operating hours from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., 7 days a week.
• Support scheduling of classrooms for faculty and staff and assist in organizing events, professional development, and job training.
• Provide administrative and budgetary support and forecasts for Computer Lab operations and Technology Support Services.

Job Summary/Basic Function

The Lab Supervisor is responsible for providing operational support to the Open Student Computer Labs under Technology Support Services in the IT Department and reports to the Computer Labs Coordinator. Responsibilities will include administering the hiring process of all student employees for the Computer Labs and Student Technology Assistants (STAs) and supervising and training 50+ student employees within the Open Student Computer Labs.

Maintain digital and verbal communication and support with student employees during regular operating hours ranging from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. 7 days a week. Scheduling classroom for faculty and staff, support Coordinator to organize and facilitate a broad range of employee activities, events, professional development, and job training.

Provide administrative and budgetary support and forecasts for Computer Lab operations and Technology Support Services department. Participate in IT Department committees and activities in addition to other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or equivalent
