Job summary

Punahou School is seeking a Circulation Technician to provide library circulation support and administrative duties for students, faculty and staff. The role supports processing of print, supplies and related equipment, and helps create a welcoming library space.

Work hours are Monday–Friday during the 2026-2027 school year, 7:00am–3:30pm, with a starting hourly rate of $20.50. The position requires a High School Diploma and prior library or customer service experience.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• One year of library circulation or customer service experience.
• Two years working with students, faculty and library staff in a fast-paced team environment.
• Familiar with Google Suite applications and basic computer skills.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds.

Responsibilities

• Check-out print and non-print library materials (K-8) to students and faculty; check-in materials on return.
• Assist students and faculty in locating books and be proactive with students to understand their needs.
• Share student and faculty requests/needs with librarians, to assist with collection development and purchasing.
• Create displays and comfortable study areas to promote reading.
• Assist students with library catalog and maintain shelf list order.
• Process and display new library acquisitions; label, bind, jacket and repair materials.
• Maintain registration and transaction files; review overdue notices and follow up on overdue materials.
• Coordinate maintenance requests and annual inventory of supplies; handle administrative duties.
• Remove book plates, due date slips, and perform weeding tasks.
• Help ensure student safety in the library.
