Job summary

The University of Bridgeport is seeking a Financial Aid Literacy Counselor to help students understand financial aid options, budgeting, and loan responsibilities. This grant-funded role focuses on empowering students to make informed financial decisions during their academic journey.

You will provide one-on-one counseling, develop personalized financial plans, and connect students with resources to support financial well-being and success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in a related field.
• At least 2 years’ experience in financial education for post-secondary students.
• Experience with student loans, grace periods, repayment, and interest rates helpful.
• Familiarity with FAFSA and online financial literacy resources.

Responsibilities

• Counsel students one-on-one on financial planning and goals.
• Develop and maintain personalized budgets and plans.
• Provide information on loan options, terms, and repayment.
• Refer students to scholarships and external resources.
• Ensure compliance with federal and institutional financial aid policies.
• Maintain confidential records of counseling sessions.
