Job summary

Hallmark University seeks a Financial Aid Counselor to support students and families with professional guidance on financial resources and tuition planning. You will interpret federal regulations, assist with applications, and help optimize funding through federal, state and institutional aid.

You will provide counseling via in-person and electronic communications, coordinate disbursements, and ensure accuracy of aid files while upholding confidentiality and integrity.

Qualifications

• Understanding of federal, state and university financial aid regulations.
• Experience in determining need-based aid and packaging Title IV funds.
• Ability to provide counseling on budgeting, loans, and repayment options.
• Strong communication with students, families and staff.

Responsibilities

• Interpret complex financial aid regulations for staff and students.
• Explain students’ rights and responsibilities for aid sources.
• Provide counseling on financial aid and scholarships to prospective and current students and parents.
• Develop tuition plans and assist with applications and packaging of aid.
• Assess need and award aid; process and update applications.
• Maintain and audit financial aid files for compliance.
• Coordinate disbursements and refunds with the Business Office.
• Advise on Satisfactory Academic Progress and withdrawal implications.
• Mentor students and liaise with lenders and loan services.
