Job summary

American University Washington College of Law is seeking an Operations Assistant to support Conference & Event Services. This on-campus, part-time role reports to the Director and requires 20 hours per week, with shifts between 6:00 am and 11:30 pm.

Responsibilities include event setup, space management, and providing high-level customer service during events. Applicants must be enrolled as AU students, maintain at least a 2.0 GPA, and be able to lift 25–75 lbs.

Qualifications

  • Must be a driven student with a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and customer service skills.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team with accuracy and efficiency.
  • Detail-oriented with accuracy and precision.
  • Able to lift items up to 25–75 lbs.
  • Report to AU Washington College of Law for scheduled shifts and trainings.
  • Flexibility to work 5–20 hours per week between 6:00 am–11:30 pm.
  • Pre-employment background check required.

Responsibilities

  • Complete event setups at WCL according to the setup diagram and EMS worksheet.
  • Understand operational capabilities and best use of the meeting space.
  • Provide high level customer service to guests and event attendees.
  • Report problems or concerns with events or resources to the Director.
  • Assist with other CES event related tasks as necessary.
