Job summary

University of Kansas Lied Center is seeking a Student Events and Audience Services Assistant to support event operations, ticketing, and guest services for a wide range of programs. The role involves managing volunteers, coordinating venue setup, and ensuring a high-quality patron experience during events.

The position emphasizes customer-focused service, effective communication with rental clients, and collaboration with multiple departments to deliver successful events.

Qualifications

• One year of experience in events management, ticketing or customer service, as evidenced by application materials.
• Experience using Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
• Clear and concise communication skills evidenced by application materials.
• Must be available to work an irregular schedule, including nights and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Open and secure facility before and after events, ensuring compliance with venue procedures.
• Coordinate and supervise volunteer usher teams with detailed pre-event briefings and assignments.
• Manage patron entry operations, ticket scanning, will-call distribution, crowd flow and door management.
• Process ticket sales, exchanges, refunds, and inquiries with exceptional customer service.
• Resolve ticketing issues promptly and professionally for a positive guest experience.
• Maintain accuracy in ticket transactions and cash handling procedures.
• Prepare venues for performances and events by coordinating signage, room configurations, seating, printed programs and tech needs.
• Set up, operate, and resolve issues related to audiovisual equipment (projectors, computers, sound, basic lighting).
• Serve as on-site liaison for rental clients, overseeing event setup, execution and troubleshooting.
• Collaborate with internal departments and external vendors to ensure smooth operations.
