Job summary

The University of Kansas is seeking a Student Events Specialist to support planning and execution of campus events, ensuring a welcoming and seamless guest experience.

Reporting to the Manager of Campus Events, this role is ideal for students who are organized, service-oriented, and enjoy teamwork while building relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Strong customer service and communication are essential.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel demonstrated by coursework or experience.
• Experience providing customer service in a fast-paced environment as indicated in application materials.
• Strong written communication skills and attention to detail as reflected in the materials.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 35lbs with or without accommodation.

Responsibilities

• Greet guests and provide professional customer service.
• Assist with event setup including beverages, linens, seating, AV, and signage.
• Coordinate client communication and logistics for tech, catering, room configurations, and materials.
• Collaborate with event team and departments to meet requirements.
• Assist with post-event teardown and inventory management.
