Job summary

The Center for Community Engaged Learning (CCEL) at Weber State University seeks a Student Engagement Coordinator to manage CCEL’s student leadership programs, Pathways Fellows and Alternative Breaks, and to organize large days of service across campuses.

You will advise CCEL scholarship recipients, coordinate program activities, and collaborate with campus partners while shaping the department’s strategy and participating in professional development opportunities as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Work, Communications, Leadership, Social Impact, or related field, or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and coordinate CCEL student leadership programs (Pathways Fellows Leadership Program and Alternative Breaks) and large days of service.
  • Lead organization, implementation, marketing, and recruitment for large days of service across WSU campuses.
  • Advise and support CCEL Hall Grant and CCEL scholarships recipients; facilitate workshops and educational seminars as needed.
  • Participate in campus and local committees focusing on student engagement, travel, scholarships, and community engagement; travel to local/national professional development opportunities.

To meet our mission and vision, we are seeking to add to our team. The Student Engagement Coordinator manages and coordinates CCEL student leadership programs and large days of service events. More specifically, this position manages two CCEL student programs: Pathways Fellows Leadership Program (leadership development, training, advising, program support, etc.) and the Alternative Breaks Program (site selection, leadership development, recruitment, training, program support, etc.). The person hired in this position will have the opportunity to shape the student leadership programs in ways that align with institutional, local, and national best practices. This position also leads the organization, implementation, marketing, and recruitment of large days of service for the WSU campuses. This position also supports and advises students who are awarded funds from the CCEL Hall Grant and CCEL scholarships, where appropriate. Occasionally, this position will be asked to facilitate workshops and educational seminars to student leadership teams, classrooms, and campus events related to CCEL’s mission. Lastly, this position serves on various campus and local committees that focus on student engagement, travel, scholarships, and community engagement opportunities for students. The position will have the opportunity to participate in and travel to local and national professional development opportunities.
  • Additional support: This position will receive administrative support from the department’s administrative specialist and department student employees. Additional support is included within the department team, community personnel, and other campus partners. Where appropriate, the position may supervise future interns to support programs that align with the needs of the department.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Work, Communications, Leadership, Social Impact, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience.
  • At least one year of related professional experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, Community Engagement, Social Work, Social Action, Communications, Leadership, Sociology, an applicable field, or the equivalent, and relevant professional work experience.
  • Two or more years of experience in higher education, community-engaged learning, nonprofit work, community development, student leadership development, or a related field.
  • Experience in marketing, coordinating, and facilitating community-engaged learning programs, training, and/or workshops for campus and/or community stakeholders.
  • Experience with budget management.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Familiarity with tracking and evaluating program effectiveness.
  • Familiarity with using various technology systems to organize tasks, meetings, and student expectations (Google Suite, Box, Adobe, GivePulse, Asana, or other similar platforms and systems).
  • Experience with initiating, developing, and sustaining relationships with community agencies, students, staff, and faculty.

  • Salary: The annual salary for this position starts at $45,000 and may go up from there depending on candidate qualifications.
