Job Summary
The Student Engagement and Global Learning Specialist in the HuttonHonors College supports the development and implementation ofhigh-impact co-curricular experiences that foster studentinvolvement, leadership, and campus community, with primaryresponsibility for student organizations, honors housing, andcollaborative programming that enhances the overall studentexperience.
Department Specific Responsibilities
- Advances global learning initiatives by supportinginternationally focused programs, including study abroadengagement, intercultural programming, and opportunities thatpromote global awareness and cross-cultural competency amongstudents.
- Builds upon strategic partnerships, advises student leaders,and contributes to a holistic, globally connected environment forHutton Honors students, while working across student affairs andglobal education partners.
- Manages finances related to the Hutton student organizations bymonitoring account balances, overseeing purchasing forstudent-organization sponsored events, reconciling transactions inEmburse, processing internal transfer documents in Kuali FinancialSystem (KFS), and processing external payments to Self-GovernedStudent Organization's (SGSO's) and other vendors through BUY.IU,etc.
- Oversees the Hutton House Program and works with studentleaders and faculty mentors to develop distinctive programming forthe Hutton Houses.
- Works closely with Communications/Events Specialist and withDirector of Academic Administration and Operations to schedule,publicize, and execute extracurricular and student organizationprogramming and events.
- Maintains the HHC events calendar by coordinating with studentorganization leaders, HHC functional area directors, and otherrelevant stakeholders to ensure adherence to scheduling policiesand minimize conflicts.
- Liaises with IU Housing regarding the Hutton Honors Communitiesand placements.
- Manages an assigned portfolio of short-term study abroadprograms, including collaborating with relevant stakeholders tomake program arrangements, creating and maintaining programhandbooks, delivering pre-departure and re-entry meetings, andsubmitting program reports.
- Serves as a member of program and scholarship applicationreview committee(s).
- Travels internationally to provide onsite student support andoversee program logistics during assigned Hutton Honors StudyAbroad programs.
- Acts as point of contact during Hutton Honors Study Abroadprograms and enacts designated role within the Hutton Honors StudyAbroad emergency plan, as needed.
- Collaborates with other members of the Hutton InternationalExperiences Program (HIEP) team to plan and execute globallearning-focused events, including study abroad fairs, culturenights, speaker series, etc.
- Supports compliance and documentation procedures, includingcompiling and preparing program data.
- Stays current on country-specific, federal, and IU policies andregulations on international study and travel.
- Cross trains to support other functional areas within theHHC.
- May serve on relevant departmental or campus committees.
- May provide guidance to student workers and volunteers.
General Responsibilities
- Develops and implements programs and initiatives geared atimproving student engagement and involvement outcomes at theprogram, department/division, or campus level.
- Interfaces directly with students, attending student lifeevents and programs and gathering satisfaction feedback fromstudent participants to implement into future student lifeinitiatives and objectives.
- Collaborates with staff in own department and otherdepartments, as well as student organization leaders, on sharedstudent life goals, often coordinating funding to sponsor studentlife initiatives.
- Measures and evaluates effectiveness of student lifeinitiatives against projected outcomes; regularly prepares reportsand presents to stakeholders on effectiveness and to secure fundingfor initiatives moving forward.
- Provides guidance to student organizations regardingoperations, budget, leadership, activities, recruitment,registration, policies, and compliance. Promotes leadership andstudent development through advising of individual student leadersand volunteers. Contributes to formation, interpretation, andimplementation of student organization policies.
- Plans and coordinates communications for student lifeinitiatives to ensure student participation and inclusion.
- May provide guidance to other Student Life Specialists; makesprocess recommendations to manager for improved delivery ofservice.
Qualifications
Combinations of related education and experience may beconsidered. Education beyond the minimum required may besubstituted for work experience. Work experience beyond the minimumrequired may be substituted for education.
EDUCATION
Required
- Bachelor's degree in public affairs, public health, counseling,social work, education, business, or related field.
Preferred
- Master's degree in higher education student affairs or relatedfield.
WORK EXPERIENCE
Required
- 2 years in student services, higher education, or relatedfield.

Working Conditions / Demands
This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and tooperate a computer and other standard office productivityequipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periodsof time moving around an office environment and the campus. Theperson in this role must be able to perform the essential functionswith or without an accommodation.

Advertised Salary
$50,107.00 - $55,600.00 annually
