Job summary

American University is seeking a Digital Content Assistant in the School of Communication. The role supports the Communications & Marketing team by creating original social media content, drafting website news, and assisting with newsletters.

The ideal candidate is an AU student, detail-oriented, with strong writing skills, familiarity with content management systems, HTML basics, and analytics like GA4. This is a part-time, on-campus position with 10 hours/week at $18.40/hour.

Qualifications

Current AU undergraduate or graduate student.
Detail-oriented, efficient, self-motivated.
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
Professional demeanor and strong organizational skills.
Ability to multitask and meet deadlines with attention to detail.
Creative mindset with ability to develop visually appealing content.
Able to work independently and with the Communications & Marketing team.
Experience using content management systems.
Basic understanding of HTML.
Experience with social media copywriting and management (Instagram/LinkedIn).
Experience with GA4 or similar analytics.

Responsibilities

Assist Online Content Coordinator in planning and creating original social media campaigns.
Create engaging content for social platforms (text, images, reels).
Pull monthly reports on social media metrics using Hootsuite.
Update SOC website content via CMS.
Pull GA4 website traffic reports to identify trends.
Assist with production of student, alumni, and SOC newsletters.
