Job summary

The New School's Performance Operations – Costume Department seeks a Student Costume Shop Assistant to support the shop manager with stock pulls, fittings notes, and general production tasks. Open to students awarded Federal Work Study, this on-campus role offers hands-on experience in costume production and design.

You will work up to 20 hours per week at $18/hour, gain exposure to the NYC Garment District knowledge, and contribute to productions while developing organization and teamwork

Qualifications

• Federal Work Study award recipient.
• Basic stitching skills (hand and/or machine).
• Familiarity with fabrics and garment silhouettes.
• Familiarity with costume production and costume design.

Responsibilities

• Provide production support during performances.
• Attend all shifts in person as scheduled by shop management.
• Assist fellow student workers and overhires as needed.
• Take notes in fittings and assist with measurements.
• Act as shopper for shop management and support urgent situations.
