Job summary

The New School in New York City is seeking an Event Support Student Worker for the School of Fashion (SOF). You will assist the Program Administrator with event planning, setup, and execution for fashion shows, open studios, ceremonies, and materials donations. Hours vary with events; evening and some weekend shifts are required.

On-campus position with some off-site work during events. Pay is $21.00 per hour. The New School is an equal opportunity employer and values a diverse workforce.

Qualifications

• Must be able to perform physical tasks including lifting up to 40 pounds occasionally.
• Strong communication with internal and external stakeholders is required.
• Attention to detail and ability to follow through on assigned tasks.

Responsibilities

• Assist with event planning, preparation, and execution for SOF events.
• Support staff and faculty with projects for SOF events, materials donations, fashion shows and productions.
• Welcome guests at events, manage check-in, provide information, and direct foot traffic.
• Pickup/delivery of items for event setup; assist with breakdown, cleanup, and return of supplies to SOF operations hub.
• Coordinate with external vendors and internal operations teams for event tasks.
• Assist faculty and staff with materials donations and proper storage.
• Communicate proactively with SOF staff regarding scheduling, availability, and conflicts for shifts.
• Assist event photographer with setup and capturing the event.
• Provide DJing services, play music, and ensure clean song versions.
