University of Colorado Colorado Springs is seeking a Student Support Specialist to join the Office of the Dean of Students. The role focuses on CARE Team case management, crisis response, and supporting student success across academic and personal challenges.

Ideal candidates hold a Bachelor's degree with professional experience with college students; a Master's degree is preferred. Familiarity with Maxient is a plus, and the position offers hybrid work and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university is required.
• Experience working with college students (minimum: 1 academic year in a professional position or 2 years in a student employment position).
• Experience with supporting students in crisis.
• Master's Degree preferred.
• Familiarity with case management software (Maxient preferred).
• The ideal applicant will have trainings or certifications related to risk assessment, crisis response, suicide prevention, case management, de-escalation, trauma-informed practices, and/or assessment, student success and retention, or supporting diverse populations.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a departmental representative of the CARE Team.
• Provide administrative support to CARE Team meetings, including taking case management notes and follow-up documentation.
• Respond to students in crisis with resource referrals, academic support/planning, and wellbeing check-ins.
• Manage personal caseload with minimal supervision.
• Assist students with withdrawal decisions and reentry strategies after crisis resolution.
• Assess student complaints for appropriate referral within the Office of the Dean of Students.
• Support campus events such as orientation and commencement.
