Job summary

Qualifications

• Education/Certification: High school diploma or GED
• Qualifies for appropriate state paraprofessional certification
• Special Knowledge/Skills: Knowledge of behavior and social skill intervention techniques and methodology
• Able to work with students with significant behavioral needs
• Trained in CPI or other crisis intervention program
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Able to maintain effective working relationships with all stakeholders
• Excellent organization, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to multi-task complex administrative activities

Responsibilities

• Assist in carrying out the district’s goal of improving student achievement by providing assistance to students who are at-risk of academic failure or dropping out of school and/or staff who work with students at-risk of academic failure or dropping out of school.
• Work closely with administrators, teachers and the counselor to create and monitor student behavior contracts.
• Work closely with teachers to develop behavior interaction plans for students.
• Monitor student behavior in the building and in SAC.
• Maintain SAC/discipline folder for all students placed in SAC.
• Maintain file of student work completed in SAC.
• Enter data in the computer concerning discipline actions.
• Observe students in the classroom and monitor the progress of students that have been assigned to SAC.
• Assist with the arrival and dismissal of students.
