Job Summary
  • Coordinate and set up equipment including maintenance and troubleshooting with GM or OM.
  • Conduct research and evaluate needs such as location resources to ensure a proper and safe remote set up.
  • Write correctly and clearly to create live reads (copy) for use during events.
  • Think critically, creatively and independently to determine best process to plan and follow through on events including scheduling staff and volunteers in studio and on location.
  • Critically evaluate own work and that of others for accuracy and fairness at remotes and through maintaining equipment and space to improve workflow.
  • Attend live, in‑person appearances as scheduled by the station or requested by clients.
  • Ensure that promotions and contests are executed properly during broadcasts.
  • Operate the control board and perform production work.
  • Demonstrate leadership by training and mentoring assistants and volunteers in proper broadcast equipment functions.
  • Demonstrate professionalism and work ethic through arriving to all remotes with appropriate time to think and troubleshoot problems that may arise, day or night.
  • Demonstrate teamwork by working with other departments to ensure you have the required support.
  • Other duties as required by management.
Required Qualifications
  • All students must have completed one or more of the following courses: In‑house WIT Training Course, COMM 3351‑Radio Program Production, COMM‑3352 Fundamentals of Television Production, COMM‑3353 Fundamentals of Film & Video Production, COMM 4421‑Radio Practicum, COMM 4485–Sports Communication, and COMM‑3354 Digital Social Media & Society.
  • Must be enrolled at UWG in a minimum of 6 credit hours and have a 2.0 GPA.
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Skilled with Adobe Audition.
Physical Requirements / Working Conditions
  • Frequently moves audio/visual equipment weighing up to 50 pounds across campus for various classroom and event needs.
