Job Summary

The University Recreation Group Fitness Instructor is responsible for leading safe, effective, and engaging fitness classes for students, faculty, and staff at the University of West Georgia. This role includes planning and delivering structured workouts, demonstrating proper techniques, and motivating participants to reach their individual fitness goals. Instructors are also responsible for maintaining a safe, clean, and inclusive fitness environment. This position has the opportunity to be promoted to a Personal Trainer once proper certification is obtained.

Required Qualifications

• Currently enrolled at University of West Georgia student

Physical Requirements / Working Conditions

• Ability to demonstrate exercises and movements effectively
• Ability to lift and move fitness equipment as needed
• Ability to stand for extended periods

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience leading group fitness classes (preferred but not required)
• Group Fitness Certification (e.g., ACE)
• CPR/AED certification required within 3 months of hire
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

• Instruct a variety of fitness formats including cardio, HIIT, dance, yoga, Pilates, and strength training
