Job summary

The Ohio State University is seeking a Student Assistant Meat Processor for the Columbus Campus. This temporary, first-shift role supports meat processing, labeling, sanitation, and basic inventory tasks in the Meat Lab.

No prior experience is required; on-the-job training will be provided. Candidates must be punctual, able to lift up to 40 pounds, and capable of working independently or in a team while following HACCP, USDA-FSIS regulations and lab SOPs.

Responsibilities

• Assist with meat slaughter, cutting and processing of sellable cuts.

• Perform sanitation and maintain lab cleanliness per guidelines.
• Learn HACCP, USDA-FSIS regulations, SSOPS, GMPS and CCPS in Meat Lab.
• Assist with preparing lab for classes and supporting research/extension events; inventory management may be required.

Employees will also perform sanitation, learn HACCP, learn USDA -FSIS food safety regulations and follow all SSOPS, GMPS and CCPS of Meat Lab. Employees may also assist with preparing lab for classes, aiding in research in the lab space, aiding in extension events.
