Job summary

The Ohio State University is seeking a Student Assistant Meat Processor for the Columbus Campus. This temporary, first-shift role supports meat processing, labeling, sanitation, and basic inventory tasks in the Meat Lab.

No prior experience is required; on-the-job training will be provided. Candidates must be punctual, able to lift up to 40 pounds, and capable of working independently or in a team while following HACCP, USDA-FSIS regulations and lab SOPs.

Responsibilities

• Assist with meat slaughter, cutting and processing of sellable cuts.
• Label meat products and ensure accurate inventory records.
• Perform sanitation and maintain lab cleanliness per guidelines.
• Learn HACCP, USDA-FSIS regulations, SSOPS, GMPS and CCPS in Meat Lab.
• Assist with preparing lab for classes and supporting research/extension events; inventory management may be required.
