Job summary

The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center is seeking a Student Assistant Meat Processor to support the Meat Lab operations in the FAES | Animal Sciences-JM area. You will participate in slaughter, cutting, and labeling of meat products, and assist with sanitation and compliance tasks.

The role may include helping prepare labs, supporting research activities, and handling lab inventory and sales items.

Qualifications

• Must show up on time and work independently or in a group
• Complete tasks in a timely and efficient manner
• Basic math skills required
• Ability to move/lift up to 40 pounds
• Ability to multitask is helpful

Responsibilities

• Assist with food animal slaughter, cutting and processing of sellable cuts and labeling of meat products
• Perform sanitation tasks and learn HACCP and USDA-FSIS regulations
• Follow SSOPS, GMPS and CCPS of Meat Lab
• Assist with preparing lab for classes and aid in research
• Manage inventory and sales inventory as needed

Job Summary

Student employees will perform and assist with food animal slaughter, cutting and processing of sellable cuts, along with labeling of meat products. Employees will also perform sanitation, learn HACCP, learn USDA -FSIS food safety regulations and follow all SSOPS, GMPS and CCPS of Meat Lab. Employees may also assist with preparing lab for classes, aiding in research in the lab space, aiding in extension events. Inventory management and sales inventory are also job duties that employees may be asked to do.

Qualifications

Ability to show up on time, work independently or in group, complete a task in a timely and efficient manner, basic math skills, ability to move/lift 40 pounds, ability to multitask is helpful.
