UW Medicine IT Services is hiring a Student Assistant - IT Services Security in a 100% remote role. The student will support information security operations, triage security reports, and assist with awareness campaigns while developing security skills.

The position is for UW students, with training across incident response, threat detection, and security education. Evening and day shifts may apply in a remote, part-time schedule.

Qualifikationen

• Familiarity with using the ServiceNow ticket tracking system.

DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION

UW Medicine IT Services (ITS) is a shared services organization that supports all of UW Medicine. UW Medicine is comprised of Harborview Medical Center (HMC), UW Medical Center-Montlake Campus (UWMC-Montlake), UW Medical Center-Northwest Campus (UWMC-NW), UW Medicine Primary Care (UWMPC), UW Physicians (UWP), UW School of Medicine (SOM), and Airlift Northwest (ALNW). ITS is responsible for the ongoing support and maintenance of the infrastructure and applications which support all these institutions, along with the implementation of new services and applications that are used to support and further the UW Medicine mission.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

The Student Assistant - IT Services Security will provide aid in support of information security operations and initiatives within the team. The ideal candidate is a highly motivated individual with excellent communication skills, a strong interest in information security, and technical aptitude. The Student Assistant - IT Services Security will allow our Security Analysts and Engineers to spend more time tracking known and emergent threats to UW Medicine information assets, in addition to performing institutional threat awareness, risk assessments, security reviews, threat detection and analysis, incident response, cyber-security operations, and security education and awareness.

REQUIREMENTS

• Must be a current student attending the University of Washington.
• Experience in computer and/or network security
• Familiarity with Unix commands and/or log analysis
• Familiarity with data and/or log analysis
• Proficiency using common business tools like MS Office and/or SharePoint
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to take direction while also working with minimal supervision
• A strong desire to learn and contribute

DESIRED EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• Knowledge of a scripting language
• Knowledge of following is a plus:
  • Publisher, SharePoint, Wordpress, and LMS Articulate Storyline
• Prior customer service experience
• Familiarity with using the Service Now ticket tracking system
