Job summary

The Activity Sponsor at Proviso Math & Science Academy organizes, supervises, and promotes a student organization or club in alignment with district mission and student development goals. The sponsor mentors, leads, and liaises between students, staff, and administration to ensure a safe, inclusive extracurricular experience.

Qualifications include strong organizational and leadership skills; ability to work with students; and willingness to take on duties.

Qualifications

• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Demonstrated leadership skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with students in a school setting.
• Willingness to take responsibility for all duties associated with the position.
• Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) or equivalent is preferred.
• Previous sponsorship or supervisory experience with school-based activities is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide active supervision for all club activities, meetings, events, field trips, and practices, ensuring student safety and compliance with policies.
• Ensure off-campus activities are approved through district procedures with proper permission slips and transportation.
• As a mandated reporter, comply with training and reporting obligations under Illinois law and Board policy.
• Guide students in planning and executing inclusive, developmentally appropriate activities aligned with the club's mission.
• Coordinate logistics and facilities with school personnel for well-organized events.
• Promote student involvement and leadership opportunities; encourage teamwork and shared decision-making.
