Job summary

Bard College seeks a Student Accounts Representative to join the Student Financial Services (SFS) department. The role handles day-to-day student account functions with professionalism and confidentiality, supporting students and families with payments, refunds, and billing inquiries.

This full-time, year-round position requires strong communication, attention to detail, and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment while upholding FERPA and college policies.

Qualifications

  • Prior customer service experience required; higher education experience preferred.

  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to work occasional weekends and evenings.

Responsibilities

  • Assist inquiries in person, phone, and email on student account balances and refunds.
  • Process monthly billing statements.
  • Review refund requests.
  • Assist with 1098-T tax form inquiries.
  • Maintain knowledge of billing policies and FERPA confidentiality.
  • Support Financial Aid information for students and families.
  • Serve as back-up for other SFS functions.

Bard College seeks a Student Accounts Representative to jointhe Student Financial Services (SFS) department. The StudentAccounts Representative is a full-time position responsible for theday-to-day student account functions and will report directly tothe Director of Student Financial Services. The successfulcandidate will have a high level of professionalism and confidencein customer service and be able to handle confidential studentinformation. It is critical that the individual in this role bringstrong verbal and written communication skills and attention todetail. They must also have the ability to multi-task andprioritize duties in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment. Thesuccessful candidate will excel at working in an environment thatis broadly diverse with regard to race, ethnicity, socioeconomicstatus, gender, nationality, sexual orientation, andreligion.

This is a full-time, year-round, benefits-eligible position locatedon the Annandale campus of Bard College. The position requiresavailability to work occasional weekends and evenings, asneeded.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist with inquiries in person, on the phone, and via emailregarding current and delinquent student account balances, paymentdeadlines, status of refund checks, and other student accountrelated inquiries Assist students and parents in making payments,setting up a payment plan, waiving optional charges, and addingmoney to their flex accounts
  • Process, review, print and mail monthly billing statements
  • Review refund requests
  • Assist with 1098-T tax form inquires
  • Assist with the daily processing of payments to studentsaccounts via cash, check and wire transfers
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of the college's policies andprocedures in regards to billing and refund policies, institutionaland FERPA confidentiality regulations
  • Maintain a general knowledge of Financial Aid information toassist students and families in a holistic way
  • Serve as the back-up for other Student Financial Aid Servicesfunctions
  • Protect the confidentiality of student records and files withinStudent Financial Services
  • Apply College policies and procedures and federal and/or statelaws and regulations regarding financial aid and cash managementfunctions and confidentiality regulations as needed
  • Other special projects and job-related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
  • Prior customer service experience required; higher educationexperience preferred
  • Associate’s degree preferred
  • Competency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google
  • Knowledge of Ellucian Banner a plus
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Organization, accuracy and keen attention to detail
  • Ability to work with confidential information
  • Must be able to work occasional weekends and evenings, asneeded
  • Must be able to occasionally lift 20 pounds
Compensation:

$26 - $28 per hour

This salary range reflects the College's good faith and reasonableestimate of the compensation for the position at the time of thejob posting. Salary decisions are dependent on several factorsincluding but not limited to market and organizationalconsiderations, experience, and qualifications of a selectedcandidate as well as internal and external equity.
