Job summary

Wright State University seeks a Student Accounts Counselor to manage the collection of defaulted loans and student accounts, guiding students on payment options and financial aid matters while ensuring compliance with university policies.

Under supervision, you will handle counseling, debt reduction, and reporting to support improved account management and lower delinquencies across campus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field with 1 year of related experience, or an Associate’s degree with 3 years of related experience.
• Experience in Student Accounts: collections, billing, AR, refunds.
• Advanced analytical problem-solving and strong communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Counsel students on outstanding balances, financial aid issues, and payment options.
• Provide advisement on loan terms and repayment options.
• Monitor and manage pre-collection and counseling processes.
• Issue accurate reports on outstanding balances.
• Work with Attorney General and agencies as needed.
• Oversee student workers and ensure accurate reporting to Credit Bureau.
