Job summary

Wright State University is seeking an Accounting Assistant to support the Finance department in learning and handling fiscal processes across purchasing, budgeting, personnel, and other areas. You will process day-to-day transactions and assist with revenue reconciliation, requisitions, and documentation for audits.

The role focuses on applying university policies, maintaining records, and providing customer service to campus partners, under the supervision of the Finance team.

Qualifications

• Student in good academic and conduct standing.
• Major or coursework in accounting, finance, business, or a related field.
• Strong working knowledge of Excel.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures carefully.
• Must sign and adhere to university confidentiality policy.

Responsibilities

• Assist with reconciling and depositing revenue received by department programs, events and fundraising activities.
• Prepare and submit purchase requisitions, payment requests, and other financial transactions using university financial systems.
• Assist with reconciling cash advances, travel expenses, and assigned funds/accounts to ensure accuracy.
• Maintain organized financial records and supporting documentation in accordance with university requirements.
• Assist with collecting and maintaining documentation for audits, financial reviews and compliance activities.
• Provide administrative and customer service support to department staff, coaches, and campus partners regarding routine financial processes.
• Learn and apply university financial policies, procedures, and internal controls while handling sensitive and confidential information.
• Assist with special projects as needed.
• Other duties as assigned by the direct supervisor.
