Job summary

Bombardier Transportation GmbH in Hartford is seeking a Structures Technician for weekend shift to support aircraft maintenance operations.

You will troubleshoot, repair and inspect sheet metal structures, interpret engineering drawings, and work with basic hand tools at a facility-level environment with occasional overtime and outdoor weather conditions.

Qualifications

• Training from a sheet metal aircraft tech school or equivalent.
• At least 3 years of aircraft structural sheet metal repair/modification experience.
• Ability to interpret mechanical engineering drawings and communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, repair, inspect and perform maintenance on customer aircraft.
• Fabricate or modify structural modifications on aircraft parts.
• Perform minor structural repairs on composite components, either attached or detached.
• Assist in hidden damage inspection of aircraft structures and with complex repairs.
• Remove/install aircraft components and comply with safety policies and procedures.
• Operate ground support equipment and document work per manuals.

What are your contributions to the team?

• Troubleshoot, repair, inspect and perform maintenance on customer aircraft
• Fabricate and or modify structural modifications on aircraft parts
• Perform minor structural repairs on composite components either attached or detached
• Assist in conducting hidden damage inspection of aircraft structures
• Assist with complex structural repairs either on or off aircraft

• Operate ground support equipment as required
• Assist with mechanical / electrical removals and installations as needed
• Assist with maintenance at off-site locations as needed
• Assist with towing aircraft as needed
• Assist with other maintenance disciplines as needed
• Adhere to Bombardier General Work Requirements for factory, shop and/or hanger positions

How to thrive in this role?

You have received training from a sheet metal aircraft technical school or have equivalent schooling

You typically have at least 3 years of aircraft structural sheet metal repair / modification experience

You have the ability to interpret and work with mechanical engineering drawings

You have the ability to effectively communicate in both written and verbal form on individual and / or aircraft status

You own a basic set of hand tools with the ability to demonstrate Inventory and control of tools

You have the ability to obtain appropriate Ground Support Equipment (GSE) qualifications as required

You are able to work unscheduled overtime including nonscheduled work days and holidays

You are able to work in seasonal/inclement weather outside

You have the ability to obtain a Security Identification Display Area badge (SIDA) if applicable

You have basic PC skills
