Job summary

Bombardier in Hartford Service Center is seeking an experienced aircraft structural sheet metal technician. You will troubleshoot, repair and modify aircraft structures, interpret engineering drawings and work with GSE equipment.

The role requires 8+ years in sheet metal repair and at least 2 years on commercial jets, plus experience with Bombardier models. You will work in a safety-conscious environment with overtime and outdoor conditions as needed, and you will maintain tools and

Qualifications

• You have received training from a sheet metal aircraft technical school or have equivalent schooling.
• Typically a minimum of 8+ years’ experience of structural sheet metal & repair / modification or substantiated similar experience.
• You typically have at least 2 years of corporate / commercial jet experience.
• You typically have 1 year of Bombardier aircraft model experience.
• You have the ability to interpret and work with mechanical engineering drawings.
• You have the ability to effectively communicate in both written and verbal form on individual and / or aircraft status.
• You own a basic set of hand tools with the ability to demonstrate Inventory and control of tools.
• You have the ability to obtain appropriate Ground Support Equipment (GSE) qualifications as required.
• You are able to work unscheduled overtime including nonscheduled work days and holidays.
• You are able to work in seasonal/inclement weather outside.
• You have the ability to obtain a Security Identification Display Area badge (SIDA) if applicable.
• You have basic PC skills.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, repair, inspect and perform maintenance on customer aircraft
• Fabricate and or modify structural modifications on aircraft parts
• Perform minor structural repairs on composite components either attached or detached
• Assist in conducting hidden damage inspection of aircraft structures
• Assist with complex structural repairs either on or off aircraft
• Assist with aircraft component repair
• Remove / install aircraft components as required
• Comply with environmental health and safety policies/procedures
• Participate in 5-S activities Perform work in a safe and timely manner
• Perform and document work performed per appropriate manuals and regulations as required
• Operate ground support equipment as required
• Assist with mechanical / electrical removals and installations as needed
• Assist with maintenance at off-site locations as needed
• Assist with towing aircraft as needed
• Assist with other maintenance disciplines as needed
• Adhere to Bombardier General Work Requirements for factory, shop and/or hanger positions
