Job summary

Belcan Corporation in Brisbane, CA seeks a Structures- Responsible Engineer on a contract-to-hire or direct hire basis. You will own non-rotating structure and gas-path containment, across compressor, combustor, shells, frames, and related components, working in a cross-disciplinary team.

The role requires 4–8 years in gas-turbine or aerospace hardware design, a mechanical or aerospace background, and strong skills in FEA, GD&T, and CAD. Hybrid work in SF Bay area; start ASAP.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering required.
• 4-8 years of structural/mechanical design of gas-turbine or aerospace hardware.
• Experience with casings, frames, pressure boundaries and rotor-burst containment.

Responsibilities

• Take sole ownership of hardware development from clean-sheet to high-rate production across multiple components.
• Collaborate with REs to define interface requirements and manage coupled interactions.
• Collaborate with Analysts to derive loads, environments, and response characteristics of your hardware.
• Develop and execute test and qualification plans for your hardware.
• Analyze test and qualification data to derive margins and iterate on designs.
• Collaborate with Production to develop prototype, low rate, and full-rate production while balancing performance, cost, and complexity.
• Flex across multiple disciplines and scopes as necessary.

Scope & Ownership

Owns the non-rotating structure and gas-path containment: compressor, combustor, CT and PT shells and casings; structural frames (including mid-turbine-frame structure); diffusers; inlet / air intake; exhaust chimneys; safety armor (containment) belts; static seals; and container static structure. Crossover: structuresmechanical integration.

Minimum Education

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
• Master's preferred

Experience

• 4-8 years of structural / mechanical design of gas-turbine or aerospace hardware, or a relevant PhD plus ~2 years
• Casings, frames, pressure boundaries and rotor-burst containment
