Job summary

Belcan Corporation in Brisbane, CA is seeking a Responsible Engineer for Combustion Systems to own combustor hardware from concept through high-rate production, including burners, fuel injection, air distribution, and emissions control.

Required: 6–8 years gas-turbine combustor experience or combustion PhD with ~3 years; hands-on low-NOx work and DFMEA; strong instrumentation and CFD/FEA exposure. You will collaborate across teams to optimize performance and reliability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
• 6–8 years of gas-turbine combustor development, or a combustion PhD plus ~3 years.
• Hands-on dry-low-emissions / low-NOx combustion and fuel-nozzle design.
• Rig testing and combustion-instability mitigation.
• FSI / aeroelasticity or thermoacoustics exposure desirable.

Responsibilities

• Take sole ownership of hardware development from concept through high-rate production across multiple components of the Client PE-10.
• Collaborate with other REs to define interface requirements and manage coupled interactions.
• Collaborate with Analysts to derive loads, environments, and response characteristics of your hardware across its operating envelope.
• Develop and execute test and qualification plans for your hardware.
• Analyze test and qualification data to derive margins and iterate on designs.
• Collaborate with Production to develop and execute prototype, low rate, and full rate production of your hardware while balancing performance, cost, and complexity.
• Flex across multiple disciplines and scopes as necessary.

Scope & Ownership

Owns the combustor: burners and fuel injection, burner air distribution, combustor shell, and combustor seals - including combustion performance, emissions (low-NOx / DLE), ignition and altitude relight, and combustion stability. For a sufficiently strong hire this role may also own combustion-dynamics analysis.
