Belcan Corporation is hiring a Rotor Systems-Responsible Engineer in Brisbane, CA. The role requires taking ownership of rotating hardware design from concept through production, working closely with Rotordynamics experts, analysts, and production teams.

The candidate should have a Bachelor's in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering (Master's preferred) and 4–8 years of rotating-hardware experience, with skills in FEA, rotordynamics, GD&T, CAD, and programming in Python/ Matlab.

Qualifications

• 4–8 years of rotating-hardware/mechanical design experience or relevant PhD with ~2 years.
• Experience with bearings, rotor structural design, and tolerances.

Responsibilities

• Owns hardware development from concept to production across Parallax PE-10 components.
• Collaborate with REs to define interfaces and manage coupled interactions.
• Collaborate with Analysts to derive loads and response characteristics across operating envelope.
• Develop and execute test and qualification plans for hardware.
• Analyze test data to derive margins and iterate on designs.
• Work with Production to deliver prototypes to full-rate production balancing performance, cost and complexity.

Scope & Ownership

Owns the rotating hardware: compressor and turbine rotor drums, bearings (compressor, CT, PT), rotor-side seals, and rotor secondary-air tapoffs. Works hand-in-glove with the Rotordynamics SME.. Crossover: structuresrotordynamicssecondary air.

Minimum Education

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
• Master's preferred

Experience

• 4-8 years of rotating-hardware / mechanical design, or a relevant PhD plus ~2 years
• Bearings, rotor structural design, curvic/bolted joints and component life

Skill Requirements

• Mechanics of materials; FEA (static / thermal / modal)

• Tolerance stack-up and GD&T; Python/Matlab; 2D/3D CAD
